A favorite of our family, this French Toast is so easy and quick to make. It’s a perfect breakfast for a lazy weekend or a great brunch for the family get together. Try it for 4th of July, Thanksgiving, or Christmas celebrations. This healthy French toast is made with organic and clean ingredients that are also allergy-friendly.

 

Ingredients for a Healthy French Toast

 

Gluten-free bread

Plant-based milk like coconut milk, almond milk, or oat milk

Organic free-range eggs

Cinnamon

Vanilla

Coconut syrup or Maple syrup or Agave Syrup

Oil or Dairy-free butter. In this recipe I used the butter alternative from Wildly Organic.

 

What kind of bread to use for a gluten-free French Toast?

Most store-bought gluten-free bread will work for French toast. Actually gluten-free breads work better than regular bread, because they are denser and might not come apart as easy as the regular breads. You can use your own gluten-free bread if you make your own.

Healthy sides and toppings for French Toast

Fresh or frozen berries like blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries

Organic peaches

Bananas

Uncured bacon or sausage

Nut butter or sunflower butter

Coconut whipped cream

Maple syrup or Agave syrup. I love to use on our French toast the Coconut syrup from Wildly Organic. It has a caramel taste and taste amazing overall.

Coffee, tea, or fresh-squeezed orange juice

 

Tip for a great healthy French toast

Let the bread in the egg and milk mixture soak for few minutes

Older bread will work better than fresh one

Use organic ingredients when possible. I love to use the Wildly Organic products because they are always fresh and high-quality ingredients.

Directions on how to make French Toast

Add all ingredients in a bowl and mix well.

Dip each piece of bread in the mixture and let it sit for few minutes in order to soak the egg-milk mixture. Be sure both sides are covered in the egg mixture.

In an iron skillet cook the bread on both sides until it is golden brown.

Serve with fresh fruit and favorite toppings.

Ingredients
  • 10 pieces Gluten-free bread
  • 2 eggs(organic and free-range)
  • 1 cup Coconut milk (or Almond milk)
  • 4 Tbsp Coconut syrup (or Maple syrup or Agave syrup)
  • 1 tsp Vanilla
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
Instructions
  1. In a bowl add milk, eggs, cinnamon, vanilla, and syrup. Mix well until all ingredients are well incorporated.

  2. Take each piece of bread and soak it in the egg mixture. Be sure both sides are covered in the mixture. Let it sit in the bowl for few minutes to better soak the batter.

  3. Meanwhile, heat oil in an iron skillet on medium heat.

  4. Add each soaked piece of bread to the skillet and cook on both sides until they are golden brown on both sides.

  5. Serve with extra syrup and fresh fruit or your favorite sides.
